ZG-ACF
Not all carbon fiber is created equal
Autoclave carbon fiber parts, made to fit perfectly, reduce weight and look beautiful.
Where you'll find it
On every SP, and as options on your car
The 911 SP is built from ZG-ACF parts. On our other cars, the roof skin, hood and deck lid are options for any restoration, and you can order them on their own for your car.
ZG-ACF parts are made from autoclave-cured prepreg carbon fiber, the process used in Formula 1 and aerospace. The difference isn't cosmetic. It's structural.
Roof skin, hood and deck lid
The ZG‑ACF options

Roof skin
A direct replacement for the steel roof of 1965 to 1998 911, 964 and 993 coupes with no sunroof: five layers of 3k and 12k carbon, 2.2 mm thick and about 9 lb. It follows the factory curvature, so paint prep needs no filler, and it comes with the bonding adhesive and full instructions. It's set up for 964 and 993 non-vented rear glass and trims easily for vented styles.
BuyHood
For 1974 to 1998 911s. A 1:1 reproduction of the factory steel hood in three layers of autoclave carbon, made the same way as the roof skin. It fits the original mounting, latching and accessories, and saves weight above the front axle, where it matters most for turn-in.
BuyDeck lid
For 1969 to 1989 911s. A 1:1 reproduction of the factory steel deck lid in three layers of autoclave carbon, made the same way as the roof skin. It fits the original mounting, latching and accessories, and it's thermally stable, so it won't craze or distort from years of heat cycling over a hot engine.

What you're paying for
The material, the tooling, the cure
The material. ZG-ACF starts with aerospace-grade prepreg: carbon cloth pre-impregnated with a precisely metered epoxy under factory conditions. It's kept frozen and has a limited shelf life. A wet-layup part starts with dry cloth and resin mixed by hand.
The tooling. Our molds are CNC-machined from 3D scans of original Porsche parts, so every part fits to factory tolerances without shims, filler or persuasion.
The cure. An autoclave cures the parts at 85 to 100+ psi and up to 350°F on a programmed cycle. A vacuum bag reaches 14.7 psi at best.
The result. Lighter, with more fiber and less resin; stronger, with fewer voids; dimensionally stable; and it fits like the factory part it replaces.
The process matters
This isn't opinion. It's materials science.
Fiber volume is the share of a part that is load-bearing carbon rather than resin. Voids are tiny air pockets trapped in the laminate, and every one is a weak point. Pressure is what removes them.
| ZG-ACF | Typical wet layup | |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber volume | 60 to 70% | 40 to 55% |
| Void content | Under 1% | 2 to 5% or more |
| Applied pressure | About 100 psi | About 15 psi |
| Resin control | Prepreg, exact | Varies by operator |
| Dimensional accuracy | Factory tolerances | Often needs modification |
| Thermal stability | Full cure cycle | Low cure temperatures |
| Batch consistency | Identical part to part | Operator dependent |
How a ZG-ACF part is made
Seven steps, none of them approximated
- 3D scanA perfect original part is scanned to within thousandths of an inch.
- CAD and proofingThe scan is refined, dimensions verified and the mold geometry prepared.
- PrototypeA 3D-printed prototype is test-fitted to a real car before any tooling is cut.
- CNC moldProduction molds are machined, so every part from them is identical.
- LayupPrepreg is laid by hand to an engineered schedule of fiber orientation, ply count and overlaps.
- Autoclave cureA programmed cycle under pressure, following the resin maker's exact schedule.
- Trim and inspectParts are CNC-trimmed, checked against the original scan and traced to their cure cycle.
